Q. If a permanently marked peg is full of weed, can I rake it out to create a swim?

A.
Yes - but it must be done carefully, checking for small fish and fry. These must be put back in the water a.s.a.p. and the weed that has been removed put in a sensible place to one side.

Q. What does the closed season mean ? Does it affect Cwmbran A.A. waters ?

A. The close season ( that is - no fishing allowed ) starts 15th March to 15th June (inclusive) every year. The close season rule does not apply to the canal or Llantarnam ponds. However the Afon Llwyd and the Monnow rivers are governed by seasonal game fishing regulations. The Monnow also has a coarse fish closed season.
