Llantarnam Ponds - Dead Bream Approximately mid November several of these poor critters were found in one of the ponds down Llantarnam - floating about on the surface. As you can see they are Bronze or common Bream. It can be seen in the photo above - they are nice fish. Cwmbran A.A. have involved authorities and the fish have been looked at. Cwmbran A.A. would like to stress that the land and these waters are the private property of their club and business. No one has the right to fish these waters or interfere with the fish unless they are a member of the club. Questions are being asked as to what has caused this. The club would also like to stress that Unhooking mats and wet hands MUST be used while dealing with fish on the bank. Fish must be handled carefully and anglers must MAKE SURE THE FISH HAVE MADE A FULL RECOVERY - AND ARE FIT FOR RELEASE BEFORE YOU LET THEM GO. Please be aware that any member seen - or reported incorrectly handling or treating fish will have action taken against them. Any one caught purposely damaging or killing fish will be severely dealt with. The club will PURSUE LEGAL ACTION THROUGH THE COURTS. We ask you to take details and take photo's of anything suspicious and report it to us. Any successful prosecutions will be made public. - The Committee.

Autumnal Residual Relief
Or in  Layman's terms - we are coming to the end of Autumn and what the Americans call the fall, and boy don't they mean it - when your waters are surrounded with tree's like our ponds are. Its taken a huge manual effort, to keep the waters flowing and free from dropped leaves and broken branches from the winds and storms. A special thank you to Nathan Evans our Club assistant secretary for his efforts through this tough time- he did more than his share of the cleaning and clearing. - Dai E.

Notice
(22nd Oct 2015)
Whilst walking around the ponds today - it was self evident that a number of anglers, are choosing to ignore club rules, common sense and decency, where litter is concerned. We say anglers, because of the type of litter found, Sweetcorn tins, Plastic bags with 4mm pellets described on them etc. This is not being left by the general public. Members are reminded that - NO BAITS ARE  TO BE BROUGHT TO ANY FISHERY IN TINS OR PLASTIC BAGS. ALL BAIT TO BE USED FROM BAIT BOXES,OR YOU WILL BE TOLD TO LEAVE. YOU MUST NOT LEAVE ,OR DISPOSE OF LITTER ON OR AROUND ANY FISHERY- IF YOU ARE SEEN YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE CLUB AND REPORTED TO THE AUTHORITIES ( IF POSSIBLE YOUR VEHICLE REGISTRATION WILL BE TAKEN). Lets keep our club waters to a good standard - Dai Edwards

If you feel you can spare us some of you time - please contact the club and let us know. Thankyou !

Watch this space throughout the year - for news of maintenance days arising. If you have left your details with us - we will contact you. - Dai Edwards

Monnow - assessment ( report 15th Sept 2015)
Members of the committee visited the clubs stretch of the Monnow fishery on Sunday 6th Sept - originally with a view of doing essential maintenance work. On arrival it was plain to see more work was required than originally anticipated. After walking through the wooded area and fields along the river bank, we came up with a number of observations and suggestions for a plan of attack. It was decided to try and create some parking facilities and to clear some area's of the banks in the fields first - this will allow members access to fish sooner rather than later. Dates for achieving this are to be decided.  - Dai Edwards
..........................................................................................................
Membership
We are in the process of looking for more outlets to sell our membership cards and day tickets. This will make it easier for people in the Pontypool - Newport and outlying area's that are not familiar with the back streets of Cwmbran. - Dai Edwards

New names for the ponds ( 7th September 2015)
It has been decided to adopt a suggestion put forward to give each of our ponds at Llantarnam new names. After much deliberation and consideration, due to the regular appearance of these creatures, the names that seemed to be suitably apt for what has been called "Bottom Pond" will in future will be called "Kingfisher Pond" and the Pond that's been called "Middle pond" will now be known as "Dragonfly Pond".
This is where you the members come in. As you are probably aware we have three ponds - and we need a suitable name for the third pond ( the top pond ). Can you think of a suitable name for this pond? If so - go to the contact us page and let us know your suggestion ( ends Monday 5th Oct 2015) The top pond will be undergoing lots of work in the future. Each of the three ponds will have new signs made - with their new names on, and be erected in prominent positions around the waters. - Dai Edwards
