River Monnow, Osbaston, Monmouth. (0.62 mile single bank)

NOTICE - ANYONE BEING ON LAND - OR USING WATERS THAT BELONG TO CWMBRAN ANGLING ASSOCIATION - DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK.
In 1985 the freehold fishing rights of the river at the Great Manson Farm Estates was purchased with match funding  from what was then Sports Council for Wales.
The fishery has a natural stocking of quality Chub, Roach, Dace, Perch, Trout and Grayling. The odd Carp and Tench have been reported, but,it is assumed that these fish are a result of previous flood damage along the whole river system. Statutory seasons for game & coarse fish apply. The regime of the river is such that it is susceptible to flooding in inclement weather and the terrain is such that anglers should be physically able to gain access to some swims. NO CHILD under the age of 12 YEARS can be admitted, juniors below 16 YEARS must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All anglers should make their own decisions about personal safety. The terrain is sometimes awkward, but the specimen fish caught from some swims make the effort well worthwhile.
One of the last projects involving the Environmental Agency before their demise, was the removal of the weir at the Forge and replacing it with a turbine and fish ladder. This feature will no doubt enhance the fish population during migration from main river.
